The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services yesterday presented the 2022 economic report. During the event, the president of the entity, Josep Maria Mas, set out a dozen demands to deal with the country's challenges. Thus, he indicated that the association agreement with the European Union (EU) must allow the diversification of the economy, but he stated that "the specificities of the country must be reinforced, mainly in matters of security and public order , a condition that is of vital importance for the future of Andorra". The Chamber also sees it as interesting to ensure access to the European Central Bank (ECB) to provide liquidity to Andorran banking and that the Principality's companies can benefit from financing in projects with other EU countries. In addition, the agreement, for the closure of which "there is no need to rush", it should include that the EU will contribute financially to infrastructures for opening up. Finally, Mas called for a country strategy for the next 20-30 years, "with a concrete one for the next five years that accompanies the potential signing of the agreement with the EU".
The president of the House mentioned the need to adapt the immigration and labor framework to the needs of companies and the country. "The high lack of current staff requires working on an immigration strategy that responds quickly and effectively to the needs of the company", he affirmed. Mas also referred to the need to maintain competitive fiscal pressure with the environment, since "it cannot go beyond 25% and during 2022 Andorra exceeded this threshold". Among the demands of the Chamber of Commerce are administrative streamlining and simplification, the promotion of programs for the modernization of the company and also digitalisation, and the promotion of the circular economy and the energy transition.
Among the priorities, Mas stated that it is necessary to "quickly activate and implement the strategic plan for trade", and announced that in this area the Chamber of Commerce has started working on the creation of the trade observatory, "evaluating and collecting the main commercial activity data and its specific weight in the general economic activity". The Chamber of Commerce is also committed to a shared vision of the tourism model. "To address the challenges of the tourism model, unity of judgment is needed between the public and private spheres", said Mas. In this sense, the entity signed a collaboration agreement with thirteen companies and associations in the tourism sector. Thus, the council of the private tourism sector wants to be "a key instrument of cooperation". MEASURES 1 Andorra's integration with the EU
